Copying and Fax Policy

Copying procedures differ at each level of the court.  For more information, contact the clerk's office in the jurisdiction where the records are located.  Click here for the list of court locations and clerks.

The following supplements Sections III, IV and VI of the "Guidelines for Public Access to Court Records" .

Pursuant to those guidelines, the following copying and fax procedures and fees are effective immediately:

Court records are generally available for viewing at the Supreme Court clerk's office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, all court holidays excepted.

The staff in the clerk's office is not available for copying or faxing of court records. A self-service photocopier is available in the lobby. Self-service copies are $0.10 per copy. The copier accepts coins, and one and five dollar bills. Because the court does not maintain a cash drawer, the clerk's office is unable to provide change for the copier.

All copying and fax requests are referred to the New Hampshire Law Library, also located in the Supreme Court Building. Copies made by library staff are $0.50 per page, and may be sent by mail, e-mail, or fax. Copy requests to the library are limited to 10 cases or 50 pages per day.

The law library also has a self-service photocopier. Self-service copies are $0.10 per copy. The photocopier accepts coins, and one and five dollar bills. The library has no change machine.

Case docket sheets are available from the Clerk's office, at no charge, up to 10 cases or 50 pages. Requests estimated to exceed 50 pages must be submitted in writing to the Court Communications Office, on a form provided by the clerk's office. Requests over 50 pages or 10 cases will cost $0.10 cents per page, to be paid immediately upon receipt of the documents. A fee of $10 per hour may be charged for Supreme Court employee time required to provide copies in excess of 10 cases or 50 pages.

Reasonable requests for copies of case docket sheets will normally be filled within three working days.

The request for Docket Sheets form is available to download in both Microsoft Word 2000 format and PDF Document SymbolAdobe Acrobat 4.0 format (to download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader, go to http://www.adobe.com/ ).

The above policies are intended to provide timely access to the records with a minimum of disruption to the operation of the clerk's office. Requests that cannot be met without substantial disruption in the clerk's office will be referred to the Court Communications Officer.
