Always call the clerk’s office at 352-0433 any time after 4:00 pm the evening prior to any of your reporting dates and listen to the prerecorded message carefully. There may be a change in the reporting time.
PARKING
The courthouse has a public parking lot behind it whose meters are reserved for jurors. The number of metered spaces is very limited. Jurors may park at any meter, except 15 minute meters, if the juror ID enclosed is on the dashboard. DO NOT USE RESERVED SPACES.
ATTENDANCE
If there is an emergency situation that prevents you from
appearing on the day you are scheduled to appear, call the
clerk's office immediately.
All requests for exemptions and postponements must be in writing and received by the court, along with your juror questionnaire by the date specified in your letter from the court. No requests for exemptions or postponements can be handled by telephone.
NOTE: IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR FOR JURY DUTY YOU COULD BE HELD IN CONTEMPT OF COURT.
GRAND JURY SERVICE
In Cheshire County, all grand jurors are normally required to appear at court one day each month during the term which last four (4) months. On rare occasions, the grand jury may convene on a second day in a particular month. You will report at 8:15 AM and are usually excused by 4:30 PM. Mileage is not paid for jurors who live in Keene.
PETIT JURY SERVICE
Jurors report at 8:30 am and are excused by 4:30 pm. The
court takes mid-morning, lunch, and mid-afternoon recesses. Jurors are responsible for their own lunch expenses. Most jury cases last 1 to 3 days.
