The Coos County Superior Court is located at 55 School Street in Lancaster, NH. The entrance to School Street in on Main Street, next to the Congregational Church. The Courthouse is located behind Centennial Park. DIRECTIONS TELEPHONE
If you have a question or a concern, you may contact the Clerk’s Office between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, by either telephoning 788-4702 or coming to the office. After 4:00 PM of the night before you are scheduled to report for jury duty, you should call 788-3518 for a recording that will confirm your reporting date and time.
When you arrive, please park in the public parking lot located on the left side of the building. Do not park in the back of the building.
If there is an emergency situation that prevents you from appearing on a day you are scheduled to report, call the clerk's office immediately.
All requests for exemptions and postponements must be in writing and received by the court, along with your juror questionnaire by the date specified in your letter from the court. No requests for exemptions or postponements can be handled by telephone.
NOTE: IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR FOR JURY DUTY YOU COULD BE HELD IN CONTEMPT OF COURT.
GRAND JURY SERVICE
As a grand juror, you are required to report to the Coos Superior Court for service on the dates listed in the letter you received. Before the start of grand jury, the presiding justice will describe your role as a juror, and give you general instructions. It is uncertain as to how long each grand jury session will last. However, the sessions typically last into the afternoon. Please plan accordingly.
PETIT JURY SERVICE
As a juror, you are required to report to the Coos Superior Court for jury selection on the date(s) listed in the letter you received. Before the start of jury selection, the presiding justice will describe your role as a juror, and how the selection process works. Jury selection generally lasts until mid or late afternoon. If you are selected for one or more juries, the judge will advise you when the trial(s) will take place. The number of days that you will serve as a juror varies, but is typically between two (2) and ten (10).
