TELEPHONE

Emergency phone calls can be received through the Clerk's office at 642-5256.

PARKING

There is a large lot in the front of the courthouse.

ATTENDANCE

If there is an emergency situation that prevents you from appearing on a day you are scheduled to report, call the clerk's office immediately.

All requests for exemptions and postponements must be in writing and received by the court, along with your juror questionnaire by the date specified in your letter from the court. No requests for exemptions or postponements can be handled by telephone.

NOTE: IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR FOR JURY DUTY YOU COULD BE HELD IN CONTEMPT OF COURT.

FIRST DAY FACTS

You will have to pass through a metal detector each time you enter the courthouse.  Do not bring anything to the courthouse which might be considered a weapon.  Anything taken from you will be returned upon your departure.

Report to the court officer on the second floor where you will be asked to show a photo i.d. and checked in and directed to the jury assembly room.

While the average trial lasts fewer than three days, a few may be longer.  You will be told of the estimated length of the trial at the time of jury selection for that case.  It is rare that any jury is kept  beyond 4:30 p.m. unless the group wishes to remain in deliberation that day.

If you are on a grand jury, your service is divided into two sessions each lasting three to four days.

If you have any further questions, please call the clerk's office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
