MEDIA ADVISORY

 

The New Hampshire Supreme Court will hear oral argument in the above captioned cases on June 11, 2002.

The proceeding in 2002-0243, Petition of Senator Clifton Below & a., will begin at 9:30 a.m. Each party who has filed a plan will have 20 minutes to make a presentation. For further detail see the court order issued on June 7, 2002.

The proceeding in 2002-0210, Petition of Representative Peter Burling &a., will begin at 1 p.m. Each party and amicus who has filed a plan will have 20 minutes to make a presentation. For further detail see the court order issued on June 7, 2002.

There will be 100 seats available in the courtroom. The courtroom will be opened to the public 30 minutes prior to the start of oral argument.

Fifty seats have been reserved at both sessions for members of the House and Senate; 20 seats at both sessions for parties to the case. Technical advisors to the parties will be provided reserved seats. Ten seats have been reserved for members of the media.

Seats that have not been reserved will be available on a first come, first served basis on the day of oral argument. Reserved seats that remain available 15 minutes prior to the start of each court session will be made available to the public on a first come, first serve basis.

All broadcast equipment should be in place and tested 15 minutes prior to the start of each court proceeding. Equipment shall not be adjusted or dismantled during the proceedings.

Visitors should allow ample time for parking and security procedures prior to entry into the courtroom. The courthouse opens at 8:30 a.m.

No cameras are allowed in the courtroom except for the media pool assignment. Cellular phones should be turned off and muted at all times. Hand held tape recorders may be used but should NOT be placed on the bar to the well of the courtroom.

Broadcast or print interviews will NOT be permitted inside the courtroom or inside the courthouse either before or after oral argument.
