Media are advised that in accordance with Superior Court Rule 78, Judge Edward J. Fitzgerald III has determined that, in anticipation of multiple media requests for access, pool coverage will be required for both video and still photography at the above captioned hearing.
It is the responsibility of the news media to determine which news outlet will serve as the "pool." Prior to the hearing, the news media shall notify the Court Communications Office about pool arrangements and set up time. No video or still cameras are permitted in the courtroom except for the pool assignment.
Hand-held audio recording devices may be used. Laptops/ blackberries/palm pilots and other electronic messaging devices will not be permitted in the courtroom. All cell phones must be turned off prior to entering the courtroom.
The court will reserve 20 seats for the media. Media interested in reserved seats for the above proceeding should contact the Court Information Office (271-2646 ext 2359) by 4 p.m. Wednesday, August 15.
Seats that have not been reserved will be available on a first come, first served basis.
The courthouse opens at 8 a.m. During the trial, all broadcast equipment should be in place in the courtroom and tested at least 30 minutes prior to the start of any proceedings. Equipment shall not be adjusted or dismantled during the proceeding.
Media are advised to arrive early to park and allow for security procedures prior to entry into the courthouse. Parking for satellite trucks and broadcast vehicles is available on Pitman Street, on the south side of the Superior Court building.
Broadcast or print interviews will not be permitted inside the courtroom, or in the second floor hallway outside the courtroom. Interviews will be permitted in the first floor lobby, unless the court determines that such activity is disruptive to security or courthouse operations.
