Traffic Rerouted for Construction at Supreme Court

CONCORD, September 24 - Beginning Monday, September 27, Charles Doe Drive in Concord will be closed temporarily. Traffic to the Supreme Court building at One Charles Doe Drive and to the Administrative Office of the Courts at Two Charles Doe Drive will be rerouted to the roadway on the north side of the John O. Morton Building on Hazen Drive in Concord. SEE MAP. The detour will be in place until later in the fall to allow for construction of a parking lot adjacent to the Administrative Office of the Courts.

The state legislature earlier this year approved $441,000 in capital funds for the parking lot construction and for long awaited changes to the exterior of the front entrance to the Supreme Court building that will make it fully accessible to all persons coming to the court. Interior improvements, required by the Americans with Disabilities Act, will also be completed and paid for through capital funds approved by the legislature. The money for the construction projects comes out of the state's capital budget which is money raised through the sale of New Hampshire municipal bonds. Capital funds cannot be used for personnel or routine operating expenses.

The work is being carried out by the Department of Administrative Services and the Bureau of Public Works Design & Construction.
