A walking team of the court system staff and friends proudly wore t-shirts with their team name "NHJB Cares". Along with court system staff, our team was made up of friends and family who dedicated Sunday, October 17, 2010, to walk five miles to support the 2010 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Concord. As written in a recent American Cancer Society newsletter; "This was the 4th consecutive year that our Concord NH Making Strides event has raised over 1/2 million dollars! Over 5000 people joined together to raise over $505,269.00!"
When individuals registered to walk they pledged to raise or self donate a minimum of $75 prior to walk day. A number of court locations were approved to sponsor a "Charitable Dress Casual Day" where staff were encouraged to wear jeans and/or something pink on the designated day. Anyone wishing to dress down made a monetary donation of any amount which truly helped to make and exceed our original goal. We are proud to announce our team collected $2,460.50 in donations! Our team not only wants to do more, but has already pledged make more of a difference in 2011. Our plans for the 2011 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event was previously determined as: each team member will walk and recruit at least one additional person - our goal is to collect at least $5,000 for this worthwhile cause.
We enjoyed catching up with each other during our walk on which turned out to be a lovely seasonably warm day. NHJB Cares team consisted of: Angela Al-Shawafi, Cheryll Andrews, Laura Kiernan, Sherry Bisson, Linda Bolduc, Ed Cunha, Lillian Deeb, LoriAnne Dionne, Sara Haskell, Brigette Holmes, Nicholas Holmes, Hank Holmes, Lisa McManis, Kim Merrill, Susan Moseley, Sharon Perrault, Deborah Rein, Marjorie Therrien, Martha Wagner, Alyson White, Patricia White and Linda Cammett, Team Captain. Family and friends not listed above walked with us which made for an even more impressive group. Unfortunately several walkers ended up not being able to join us but did than their part to collect donations. We were delighted to have Lorraine Merrill, a breast cancer survivor and mother of Lisa McManis walk along side us and look forward to her joining us again.
The NHJB Cares team invites you to participate on October 16, 2011, either by registering to walk or to support us with a donation. Please feel free to contact any of the above individuals. Thank you!
-Linda J. Cammett
