watch the supreme court live

 Webcast starts October 19, 2005

CONCORD—Oral arguments at the New Hampshire Supreme Court will be broadcast live on the Internet starting October 19, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. All public sessions of the court will be available at

The New Hampshire Judicial Branch now joins 20 other state courts around the country that use online technology to Webcast oral arguments. A small stationary video camera has been installed at the back of the courtroom and existing microphones will provide audio of the court proceedings. Video and audio recordings of the proceedings will also be available on the judicial branch website after the live broadcast for replay at any time. There will be no video of confidential proceedings and audio is not available to the public in those cases.

“We believe this technology brings an important new level of public access to our court system because it makes it possible for any citizen to watch a Supreme Court proceeding without having to make the trip to our courthouse in Concord,” Chief Justice John T. Broderick Jr. said. The live broadcast also provides a new educational resource for the legal profession, teachers and schools.

“Not only is Webcast of oral arguments a valuable resource for lawyers preparing to appear before our court, it is also a tremendous learning opportunity for students who are studying the judicial process,” Broderick said.
