Video arraignments scheduled for Jan. 8 and Jan. 9
CANCELLED

CONCORD, NH - The Superior Courts in Coos and Carroll Counties announced today that the video arraignments scheduled for Thursday, January 8 and Friday, January 9 in the above-captioned cases have been waived by the defendant.

Attorney Jesse Friedman filed the Waivers of Arraignment and entered "Not Guilty" pleas on behalf of the defendant (see below) on January 2, under Superior Court Rule 97, which reads:

ENTRY OF NOT GUILTY PLEA AND WAIVER OF FORMAL ARRAIGNMENT

"A defendant, who is represented by attorney, may enter a plea of not guilty without formal arraignment by filing at, or before, the time fixed for arraignment, a written statement signed by the defendant certifying that he has reviewed a copy of the indictment, has read it or had it read or explained to him, understands the substance of the charge, waives formal arraignment, and pleads not guilty to the charge."

The next anticipated step will be the issuing of a Dispositional Conference Order by the judge in each case.  These orders will likely include, but not be limited to, dates for depositions, major motions, jury selection and trial; notices of defense, discovery deadlines; disclosure of experts; witness lists and general voir dire questions for potential jurors. The court’s Public Information Office will update the media when the dispositional conference orders are issued, which will likely take place in 6 to 8 weeks.
