LOCATION OF COURT

The Sullivan County Superior Court is located at 22 Main Street, Newport. DIRECTIONS

TELEPHONE

 The clerk's office will take messages for jurors in case of an emergency at 863-3450. Jurors are requested not to make out-going calls unless absolutely necessary.

In case of inclement weather, call the clerk's office at 863-4242 and a recording will advise you of whether court has been delayed or cancelled.

ATTENDANCE

If there is an emergency situation that prevents you from appearing on a day you are scheduled to report, call the clerk's office immediately at 863-3450.

All requests for exemptions and postponements must be in writing and received by the court, along with your juror questionnaire by the date specified in your letter from the court. No requests for exemptions or postponements can be handled by telephone. 

NOTE: IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR FOR JURY DUTY YOU COULD BE HELD IN CONTEMPT OF COURT.

PARKING

The parking lot is located on Sunapee Street across from the Sheriff's Office.

FIRST DAY FACTS

Please enter the courthouse using the front entrance to the county building on Main Street.   There will be a bailiff there to check you in and direct you to the jury room. You will be instructed in your duties by the judge. 

As a juror you will report on the date in the letter you received for jury selection. If you are selected to serve on a case, you will report on the days the case is heard.  If you are not selected, you will be excused until the next selection day. The average length for a trial is two days, but some may take longer.

If you are reporting for grand jury service, sessions are for one day approximately every six weeks. The dates for grand jury sessions will be listed in the information you receive from the court.
