The New Hampshire Law Library is the only public Law Library in the State of New Hampshire. Its mission is to advance the administration of justice by providing legal information and related services to the judicial, legislative, and executive branches of government, the legal communities of New Hampshire, and the people of the State.

This library is a congressionally designated depository for U.S. Government documents. Public access to the government documents collection is guaranteed by public law. (Title 44 United States Code).

Services

Public Computers and Internet Access

The Law Library has four public access computers. The computers are for legal research and use of these computers is governed by the Public Computers and Internet Access Policy. Westlaw, Lexis Advance, Bloomberg Law, and HeinOnline, as well as Microsoft Word, are available.

Borrowing

The Law Library lends materials to the public through Interlibrary Loan. Contact your local library to borrow through Interlibrary Loan. Members of the New Hampshire Bar Association may apply for borrowing privileges using this form.

Document Delivery

Copies made by library staff are $0.50 per page, and may be sent by mail, e-mail, or fax.  There is a $5.00 minimum charge. Copy requests to the library are limited to 10 cases or 50 pages per day.

Reference

Your telephone or written questions will be answered to the fullest extent possible. The Law Library is unable to give legal advice, or legal opinions, or render legal research.

The library provides a photocopier for the public at a cost of $.25 a page. The photocopiers accept coins, $1 and $5 bills. The library does not have a change machine.
